Since the original developer has stopped any further work on this program I thought I might add one new feature which was sorely missed, caching of tiles previously downloaded.

I also added one or two other items. I have added one new config item under the services section of fsearthfiles. This name will be used in the drop down box to select the relevant tile provider service, it's easier than remembering which service was which in the old implementation.

fsearthtiles

I have fixed the error with Google maps requiring the blue 'WWW' button needing to be pressed. Google maps now downloads much faster. There was a bug in the original code that stopped it from working properly.

Lastly the file caching. You will find a new folder called cache under your work directory. All tiles downloaded from the servers will be stored here.

The file name will be constructed using a combination of the tiles position, service number, zoom level and the name for the service.

It is therefore important not to use any invalid file name characters for the service name e. The benefit of the caching is that if we reprocess an area where tiles have been used before we do not have to redownload them again. We can also stop downloading and restart it at a later stage any existing tiles will not be pulled from the server again, same applies if you have a power failure etc. At the start of a new download you will be prompted if you want to delete any previously deleted files.

A method I found that works well is to rename my work folder to something else when I have finished with it. A new area will then create a new work folder.

PM me if you need it I will make a permanent plan later. Cheers Mark. Hi Mark and everyone. A good addition, thanks for your effort. One thing I was hoping someone would add is the ability to exclude tiles after you selected a large block, very useful when you work around the coast. I was thinking about doing it but I do not have any recent C on my system.

I may try the Visual Studio 6 and see if it works on win 7?Forums New posts Search forums. What's new New posts New resources New profile posts. Members Current visitors New profile posts Search profile posts. Resources Latest reviews Search resources. Log in Register.

Thread starter BrBlazer Start date 7 Jul Hi, Maybe you can help me, I just posted this on the sbuilder forum: Hello Friends, Sorry that this isnt exactly sbuilderx related, but it's somewhat related to googleserver and images download, but related to another programa called FS Earth Tiles FSET and the project seems to be without support so I'm recalling to the wizards here for help The thing is, I cannot get google to work, only Yahoo and Virtual Earth, but the area I'm working on only has google image available at decent resolution.

Here are the current line set there. Service 1 and 2 are working VE and Yahoo respectively but service 3 google doesn't. If anybody can help my it'll be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance. Resource contributor. I moved this this post to a new thread, and a new sub-forum. You might try this for now: Code:. I think it's a wonderful little program, I don't know why only the French and Italians seem to know this.

Unfortunately, although your blue button method does work for a one off shot, it fails to map the tiles automatically. I have set the default settings for the area I am currently interested in with virtualearth and I just try it every few days to see if the clouds have gone.

Looking into this I found some more info. Here's my services in FSEarthTiles. Generic; using System. Last edited: 8 Jul Excellent work Dick. Now I have to figure out the easiest way of lining up the map to the airport off 50' south and 50' east. Obviously the way to go in the future is map first - then do the airport. Google Maps IP ban following tile download Hi all. Thanks for posting this discussion here. I just found FSET yesterday on my return from Nairobi and after some no doubt uncommon wonderings as to whether I could create some african photoscenery!

V1 was passable but you seem to have tweaked it tremendously - well done and thanks again! Are there any more improvements in the pipeline?

Im trying to configure fsearthtiles for use the ArcGisImagery service but i cant determinate the service, i hope you can help me! Try altering the script or add a new one to change it to ZYX. I think the X and Y are probably swapped. But without the full URL I cannot help any further. I found one of their services that worked with the above change, but it was for a vector map.

They probably use the same tile encoding on the satellite server as well. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a current set of services configurations, and I wonder if one of you kind forum dwellers might PM to me some of the current configuration values, or even a hint as to where I might find them on the Internet.

Thanks for the PMs. The "west" type in the exclude coordinates are not considered. I had a quick look and spotted the mistake. Must of had a late night when I coded that section of code. I have uploaded a new version. The same download link is valid. Make sure you backup your ini file first, then replace it again once you have extracted and over written your existing files. If you don't you will lose your service settings. I have only done one or two quick tests due to time constraints.

Report back if it works or not. Some users on the Italian forums have mentioned an error "You have excluded the whole area! This is the correct behavior if you do not create a polygon called area. This polygon is used to select all the tiles that you want to download. Any tiles outside this region are not downloaded. Obviously if you don't create the polygon, the program will not find any tiles to download. This is a better way of using the program as opposed to drawing a block and drawing a bunch of exclude zones.

Oh no! Some styles failed to load. 😵

Have a look at a program called fiddler2. I use this to decode the url's used for the various map services. I 've eard your advice to use kml file and I've coded a generator of kml file to create an "Area" poly from an AGN folder Liking the idea of exclusion rectangle but this leads me to something I've been wishing for in FSET since I first used it.

Would this be possible? Drawing round an airfield in FSET so as to just get the airport background and not anything else? What is wrong please? I first, thougth about a problem with the. You are also not really allowed to download such material and store and use it in FS or elswhere without the permission of the services.

In default FSX and P3D, the ground scenery is created through a system called 'Ground Class' where a grid is used to determine the ground in the real world and a texture is placed on top of it. Some companies have been able to create VFR scenery which places real-world satellite images on top of the FSX World to create a realistic representation of the ground.
